Makkah Gears Up for Ramadan

MAKKAH: The Makkah municipality will largely focus on street cleaning, environmental safety and guaranteeing supply of hygienic food at restaurants during the month of Ramadan.

Makkah Mayor Osama Al-Bar said on Sunday, “The municipality has made preparations for the large number of pilgrims and visitors gathering in Makkah in the holy month of Ramadan and have in place the required number of workers and equipment to implement all tasks.

JEDDAH, 2 February 2008 — Dr. Abdul Rahman Al-Sudais, an imam of the Grand Mosque in Makkah, yesterday cautioned Muslims all over the world that their Palestinian brethren in Gaza were facing a human catastrophe. The imam rebuked Western countries that speak profusely about human rights, freedom and democratic values for keeping mum on the continuing Israeli atrocities in occupied Palestinian territories.

Fatwa: Qur’anic Ringtones Haram

Fatwa-Online Newsletter. 9 November 2007 – The Islamic Jurisprudence Council banned the use of the verses of the Holy Qur’an as ringtones for mobile phones because it impinges on the sacred character of the Muslim Holy Book, the Saudi Press Agency reported yesterday.
 

“It is demeaning and degrading to the verses of the Holy Book to stop abruptly at the middle of a recitation or neglecting the recitation, as happens when they are used as ringtones in mobile phones. On the other hand, recording the verses from the Holy Qur’an in phone sets with the intention of recitation and listening is a virtuous act,” the scholars attending the council said in a statement.

Prophet’s Mosque Now Open 24-7

Kabar dari Fatwa-Online. Masjid Nabawi di Madinah, Masjid paling suci yang kedua bagi umat Islam, akan tetap dibuka selama 24 jam, 7 hari sepekan sampai akhir tahun ini (1428H -pent.) atas perintah dari Pengurus Kedua Masjid Suci King Abdullah, menurut Gubernur Madinah, Pangeran Abdul Aziz bin Majed.

“Keputusan yang baik ini mencerminkan rasa perhatian dan kebaikan raja dalam menyongsong musim haji dan para hamba Allah yang mengunjungi masjid Nabawi,” kata Gubernur. “Hal ini juga akan membantu kaum mu’minin untuk meluangkan waktunya lebih lama di dalam masjid untuk beribadah.” Sampai saat ini, masjid tersebut ditutup setelah shalat ‘isya dan akan dibuka kembali untuk shalat shubuh.
