Riyadh to Host Conference on Islam as Religion of Mercy

Riyadh: Riyadh will host a major international conference aimed at removing the misconceptions about Islam and its Prophet Mohammad (PBUH).

Saudi King Abdullah Bin Abdul Aziz issued an order Tuesday directing the Saudi Society for Sunnah [Tradition of the Prophet] and its Sciences to organise the International Conference on “Prophet of Mercy” on May 9 and 10 next year.

The conference will highlight the salient features of Islam as a religion of mercy and tolerance as well as its denunciation of all forms of extremism and terrorism.

Sheikh Abdul Aziz Alu-Sheikh: Al-Qaeda threat is serious

JEDDAH 4 July 2008: The grand mufti of Saudi Arabia yesterday urged citizens and residents to take the Al-Qaeda threat seriously and join hands with the Kingdom’s security forces in defeating the group.

Saudi Grand Mufti Denies Inviting Rabbis to Riyadh

Riyadh: Saudi Arabia’s Grand Mufti Shaikh Abdul Aziz Al Shaikh has denied press reports that he had invited Jewish rabbis to a forthcoming inter-faith reconciliation conference in Riyadh.

In a press statement, the Mufti, who is also chairman of the Senior Scholars’ Commission and Ifta, clarified that what has been published in some newspapers, quoting some news agencies, are “reports which are absolutely baseless and have no grain of truth.” Citing a verse from the Quran, the Mufti called for verifying baseless news that might cause harm to others, according to the official Saudi Press Agency.

Sudais Warns of Gaza Catastrophe

JEDDAH, 2 February 2008 — Dr. Abdul Rahman Al-Sudais, an imam of the Grand Mosque in Makkah, yesterday cautioned Muslims all over the world that their Palestinian brethren in Gaza were facing a human catastrophe. The imam rebuked Western countries that speak profusely about human rights, freedom and democratic values for keeping mum on the continuing Israeli atrocities in occupied Palestinian territories.

Idul Adh-ha 1428H Jatuh Pada 19 Desember 2007

Keputusan resmi dan pengumuman dari Saudi Arabia bahwa tanggal 1 Dzulhijjah 1428H jatuh pada tanggal 10 Desember 2007 dan insya Allah kaum muslimin akan melaksanakan haji di padang ‘Arafah (9 Dzulhijjah) pada hari Selasa 18 Desember 2007. Dengan demikian kaum muslimin seluruhnya akan melaksanakan ‘Idul Adh-ha pada tanggal 19 Desember 2007.
